I'm a bit jealous :P I sail in past M/S Color Viking, M/S SuperSpeed 2, once M/S Peter Wessel, but never M/S Color Fantasy / Magic :(
I grew up with M/S Peter Wessel, from my first ever trip to Legoland (Billund, DK) in 1986, just a week or two before it crashed with another ship, all the way until the last trip in March 2008, just two and a half week before it was taken out of service and sold to Italy. I Really miss M/S Peter Wessel a bit, even if it really was just an old wreck. I tried M/S Color Viking in 1996, M/S Christian IV a few times, and both those on the Sandefjord-Strömstad line. I also tried M/S Superspeed 2 once, but that was not any good. Fantasy and Magic are really nice when it comes to facilities, but I think that the distance Oslo-Kiel is too long. The only reason for travelling with the ferry on that trip was because we were travelling to Busworld in a Setra S516HD. It would have been much cheaper to take a plane, which I did on the return journey.
Oh yes.. distance from Oslo to Kiel is a bit long, probably expensive too. I have a question - Why SuperSpeed was wrong for you? This ferry is my the best Very beautiful and very fast, 3h 45min from Hirtshals to Larvik, that's my the best option to travel by car to Norway from Poland (in recent years)
Well, SuperSpeed is probably not a bad ferry overall, but it is not a good substitute to what Peter Wessel was. Only the first few trips were to destinations in Denmark. Since then nearly all trips were 24-hour trips back and forth, which that line and the ship was ideal for. With SuperSpeed that is no longer possible, it's just like another fjord ferry. And with Oslo-Kiel you have to spend two days on such a trip. The one time I used SuperSpeed was when moving home from Copenhagen in early 2010.
